How to Use Your “I Am” Journal Series
We are so excited that people are sharing how they are using and enjoying our I Am Journal series. We put a lot of thought and effort in to these journals, how they are laid out, and the design that goes in them. We also put a lot of effort in to deciding which six pillars of mindset mastery we wanted to focus on for this series: intention, self-discipline, mindfulness, curiosity, introspection, and gratitude.
Ashley and I have both done a lot of reading and research in the area of personal development. You can definitely say it’s a passion for us both. Because of this we wanted to narrow in on what areas matter most and that’s how we came up with these six.
Which Journal Should You Begin With?
If you’re wondering which journal to start with, We’ve got you covered. But before we give our recommendations, we want you to remember that you can start wherever you want. You know better than anyone the areas that you need to focus on.
But if you really are sure where to begin, no worries! We usually recommend kicking off your journey with I Am Intentional: A 28-Day Guided Journal. Why? Because getting clear on what you want is the first step in actually getting there. This journal helps you define your intentions in various areas of life—from health and relationships to career and personal growth. Trust us, once you know what you want, it becomes a whole lot easier to make it happen!
If you are looking for the order in which to do all six, here is what we recommend, but again, make this process your own. As long as you are journaling, you are making forward progress!
Your 28-Day Journey: What to Expect
Each journal is like a 4-week journey, designed to guide you through daily prompts that help you reflect, grow, and take action. Every week has a different focus, so you won’t feel like you’re writing the same thing over and over. By the end of each 28-day cycle, you’ll have made real progress—whether that’s getting more disciplined, becoming more mindful, or feeling gratitude at a deeper level.
Week 1: Set the Foundation
In the first week, you’ll be laying the groundwork. This is where you get clear on where you are and what you want to focus on for the next 28 days. Whether it’s building better habits, feeling more connected, or just getting clear on your goals, Week 1 is all about intention.
Week 2: Dig Deeper
By Week 2, you’ll be ready to dive deeper. This is where the self-reflection kicks in. Each prompt will encourage you to think about your behaviors, habits, and mindset. Don’t be afraid to get honest with yourself—this is your journey!
Week 3: Take Action
Now that you’ve laid the foundation and done some soul-searching, it’s time to take action. Week 3 is all about implementing what you’ve learned so far. You’ll focus on turning those reflections into small, actionable steps that can help you move forward.
Week 4: Celebrate and Reflect
You made it to Week 4! This week is all about celebrating your progress and reflecting on what worked—and what didn’t. It’s also a time to think about how you’ll keep the momentum going after the 28 days are up. You did the work, and now it’s time to soak it in!
It’s Your Journal—There’s No Right or Wrong Way
Here’s the thing: there’s **no right or wrong way** to use these journals. They’re for **you**. So if you miss a day, don’t sweat it. You can always pick back up where you left off. The most important thing is that you actually open your journal, get your thoughts on paper, and let the process guide you.
